Educational challenges do not end at national borders.
They are shaped by global inequalities- of resources, attention, and opportunity.
For organizations working in countries like Nepal, the distance between a good idea and its implementation often depends not only on local effort, but on the networks, institutions, and support systems available beyond its borders.
Friends of Chakraviu Nepal (FOCN), a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit in the United States, was created to bridge precisely this gap.
FOCN is not imagined as a separate institution, but as an extension of Chakraviu Nepal’s work; an arm designed to connect individuals, diaspora communities, researchers, philanthropists, and institutions who share a belief that well-designed interventions can shift educational trajectories for thousands of children in Nepal.
Its goals are anchored in three simple principles:
Advocacy grounded in evidence, not sentiment
FOCN’s role is to communicate not just the stories from the field, but the logic behind the work; why holistic education matters, why upcycling creates more than environmental benefits, and why programs like the fellowship can shift opportunities for students who have little margin for error.
Mobilizing resources toward practical, high-leverage solutions
International support often arrives in large, abstract promises. FOCN operates differently. It focuses on channeling resources—financial, technical, and intellectual—toward interventions that Chakraviu Nepal has tested, refined, and grounded in local reality. This includes sustaining holistic learning sessions, expanding the Upcycling Lab, strengthening the fellowship program, and supporting research-driven classroom improvements.
Building long-term partnerships
Development work is vulnerable to cycles of excitement followed by fatigue. FOCN aims to resist this pattern by cultivating steady, long-term engagement from people who want to understand Nepal’s educational landscape more deeply. Its leaders serve not as distant patrons, but as committed partners who lend consistency to Chakraviu Nepal’s growth.
Collectively, FOCN broadens the space in which Chakraviu Nepal can imagine, test, and scale solutions. It helps ensure that promising ideas in Nepal are not limited by geography or circumstance, but supported by a global community that believes in careful experimentation, local insight, and the quiet, persistent work of making systems fairer and more holistic.
